Goodyear Hall was once home to Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. It housed their offices, theater, gymnasium, and museum. Built in 1917 it belonged to Goodyear Tire from its opening in 1920 until it was purchased by Industrial Realty Group LLC in 2007. They envisioned incorporating Goodyear Hall into the East Akron Redevelopment project and saw it serving as a signature residential component of the mixed use site.
The biggest challenges here were past remodeling, the existing windows were not original and housed smaller window units with the jambs filled in with simple framing, there were no full samples of the original windows so the windows had to be replicated based on existing photographs, drawings, partial samples, and matching all the window components of modern day manufacturers to the custom materials required in historic construction.
Jamieson Ricca specializes in variety, new, historic and unique conditions. Not only was this project successful, but we have been invited back 30 times since. Through these projects we were able to showcase our experience and focus on craftsmanship.
